Joint research conducted by the Weill Medical College of Cornell University and the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research in New York has identified two proteins, CT7 and MAGE-A3/6, in human myeloma cells responsible for multiple myeloma. The researchers believe these proteins may be ideal targets for a multiple myeloma vaccine. Studies are underway to see if immune cells of people with the disease can recognize and attack cells that have either CT7 or MAGE-A3/6. The study was published in the March 10, 2005 issue of Blood. |
